Flatbush SDA Church - AY Program for January 16th, 2009
In light of the powerful earthquake that struck Haiti this week, the Society believes this is a prime opportunity to put our theme "United by Design" into practice...Join us at 4:30pm for a very special, spiritual AY season of prayer service as we collectively pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti and learn how we can help out during this serious situation. At this time, our prayers, thoughts, and support are with our Haitian brothers and sisters of Flatbush S.D.A. church.
Flatbush SDA School-
Note from Bro. Luis Escamilla - “I am so proud of my kids. They told my wife & I that they want to raise funds for relief efforts in Haiti. They are doing this at the Flatbush SDA School. They are asking for $1. If anyone can contribute please do so & may God continue to bless my children.”
The Flatbush school will work on the fund raising effort initiated by Amanda and Lauren Escamilla. As per Bro. Escamilla the school will seek the assistance of Councilman Mathieu Eugene to send their contributions to Haiti.

Assemblywoman Rhoda Jacobs:
Dear Friends,
Thank you for the many, many responses to my email and calls to my district office from those of you who wish to help with the relief effort in Haiti. I am also relieved and grateful to have heard from constituents who let us know that their families are safe and were not in harm’s way.
I have been in contact with the Governor 's office, who is working with our federal government to find the best way to get supplies onto the island. In the meantime, we are aware of two ways to make contributions to organizations who are in Haiti already and are working to help.
Petr Salidar from South Midwood let us know how to donate to the Red Cross directly:
Dial 90999 and text "HAITI" It becomes a contribution to The Red Cross for $10 and will show up on your phone bill. You can read about this way of giving at: www.mGive.com/a. Thank you Petr.
We were able to reach Ulrick Gaillard, whose family lives on Ocean Avenue, and who runs the Batey Relief Alliance( BRA) in the region. For many years, his organization has provided medical treatment to Haitian living in the bateys in the Dominican Republic. We worked with Ulrick in the past to help get supplies to hurricane victims in Haiti. He has provided us with the information below and asked that we pass it along to those who wish to help with the relief effort they are providing in the region.
Also, thank you Ernie Skinner for reminding people to give to creditable organizations to assure that the funds are used properly.
With all of our efforts put forth, let us hope and pray that the Haitian people can soon recover from this devastating disaster. I will continue to be in touch as more is learned. Please continue to be in touch with my office as well. Thank you again.
